2027 Harrogate Open
14th - 16th May 2027
The Harrogate Open will be held from Friday, 14th May to Sunday, 16th May 2027 at the Manhattan Club in Harrogate: Beech Avenue, Harrogate, HG2 8DY.
Entry is limited to 64 players on a first come first served basis. If we do have a full complement of players there will be a reserve list.
The tournament will be part of the 2027 Tour & will use UKBGF rules. (Legal moves only / dice not on checkers / clock mandatory)
A buffet lunch is also included on the Saturday and Sunday.
On the Friday night there will be a £5 entry warm up event
Please note: This year we will not be taking cash at the event for side pools. These must be paid in advanced along with registration and entry fees.
Entry Fees
Registration fee: £35 (to be paid by 31st March 2027)

Optional £10, £20 and £30 pools. Players may only enter up to 2 adjacent side pools.
Optional £10 pools in the consolation and last chance events.
Entry fees and side pools are 100% return
Bank details will be provided upon registering. All registration fees, entry fees and side pools must be paid in advance.
The Manhattan Club
There is limited parking at the venue, but the surrounding side streets have space. The Manhattan Club is also a 10 minute walk from Hornbeam Park railway station, which is a 10 minute journey from the Harrogate town centre, and 30 minutes from Leeds Railway station (by train).
Accessibility
The Manhattan Club has a small step to enter the building, with a ramp available upon request. Once inside, there is step free access to the playing room, bar and toilets.
Format
Friday
32 player 3 point knockout starting at 18:30 - £5 entry. Registration closes at 18:15.
Saturday
5 round Swiss bracket - top 32 qualify for main event (first 3 rounds 9 points, last 2 rounds 7 points). Players on 3 wins automatically qualify and the remaining players will play in the consolation.
Sunday
Main Event: 7 point single elimination bracket. First round losers will automatically drop into the consolation.
Consolation: 7 point single elimination bracket.
Last Chance: 5 point single elimination bracket.
Prizes (subject to 64 players)
Friday Night Warmup (assuming 32 players): Winner £120, Runner up £40
Main: Winner £1035, Runner up £520, losing semi-finalists £85 each
Consolation: Winner £525, Runner up £260, losing semi-finalists £40 each
Last Chance: Winner £200, Runner up £90
Side pools will be a 75% / 25% split to entrants who progressed furthest in each flight.
Winners and runners up in the main, consolation and last chance will also receive a 2027 Harrogate Open trophy.
Schedule
Friday - desk opens 18:00.
32 player 3 point knockout starts at 18:30, estimated finish 22:30. If there are fewer players, the match lengths will change to 5 points.
Saturday - desk opens 9:30.
5 round swiss starts 10:00 (first 3 rounds 9 points, last 2 rounds 7 points). Buffet lunch served between 14:00 and 14:30. Estimated finish 19:30.
Sunday - desk opens 9:00, matches start at 9:30. Buffet lunch after round 2. Estimated finish 19:30.
Players Registered
Registration is currently open for attendees of the 2026 Harrogate Open. General registration will open on 1st November 2026.
Note: There will be a waiting list in effect. If a player needs to withdraw from the tournament any payments will be fully refunded if paid before the deadlines and a player from the waiting list takes the place. After the deadlines the registration fee is non-refundable unless there are extenuating circumstances and at the discretion of the tournament directors. The entry fee is fully refundable up to 48 hours prior to the event.
